Phishing Scam – Automated Messages to Kinecta FCU Members We would like to make you aware of a recent “phishing” scam that has affected some Kinecta members. Phishing is the unlawful fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity—in this case Kinecta.
A small number of Kinecta members have recently been contacted by a recorded phone or text message indicating their Kinecta Federal Credit Union debit or credit card has been frozen. The member is then directed to contact a phone number for assistance regarding their card. The phone number is an automated message where they are prompted to enter their card number and PIN.
We want to assure you that Kinecta Federal Credit Union would never send messages requesting your personal information, including card numbers, passwords or PIN. If you receive a message such as this, do not respond.
If you have any questions about this, or you believe that you are a victim of this phishing scam, please contact Kinecta at (800) 854-9846.
