Kinecta Aided Nearly 1,500 Families Through its 51st Annual Food Drive
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA (November 27, 2024) – Kinecta Federal Credit Union was joined by Rep. Maxine Waters and community leader Dr. Alice ‘Sweet Alice’ Harris on Sunday, November 24, 2024, to distribute holiday meals to families in South Los Angeles. The 51st annual holiday food drive aided nearly 1,500 families at distribution events in Southern California and Rochester, New York.
During the fundraiser, more than $60,000 was raised through donations from vendors, employees, and members. Kinecta then partnered with over 40 community-based organizations throughout Los Angeles County, Santa Barbara County, Orange County and Rochester, New York, to select families. Each family received a bag of traditional Thanksgiving food items, such as rice, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, and stuffing mix, along with a $50 grocery store gift card to help complete their holiday meal.
"Kinecta is grateful to our vendors, staff, members, families and friends that donated money and time to help make the food drive a success,” said Kinecta Community Foundation Executive Director Latrice McGlothin. “More than 2 million people in Los Angeles County face food insecurity and this event helps fill the need for food during the holiday season. We are honored to continue this tradition of helping families in our community for more than 50 years.”
