Manhattan Beach, CA, June 20, 2024 - Kinecta Federal Credit Union is excited to announce the recipients of the 2024 Kinecta Scholarship and the Innovision Society’s Teaching Grant programs.

Eight winners were chosen from the 70 scholarship applications to receive a $2,000 scholarship for their education goals. As part of the application, students were asked to write about an experience that was important to them and had impact in their community. The essays touched on a variety of topics that have shaped them through their high school career, including learning empathy, overcoming challenges, serving others and making a difference by bringing communities together.

The scholarship recipients will attend schools, including Stanford University, Wake Forest University, University of California Irvine, University of California, Davis, Pennsylvania State University, Tulane University and Northwestern University. They plan to study various subjects, including mechanical engineering, business law, economics, finance, computer science and cultural anthropology.

The Kinecta executive team sponsors and funds the REDCAP scholarship, which is given to a child of a current Kinecta employee. This year’s winner attends the University of California Riverside and majors in Biology. Applicants were asked what they would discuss if they had ten minutes to give a Ted talk to a million people. The winning essay focused on the many paths one can take in life and the importance of changing passions and investing time in a new endeavor.

In 2015, the Kinecta Teaching Grants program was inaugurated to celebrate the life of Debra Wilson, a devoted Kinecta employee with a passion for education and training. The legacy continues with Innovision Society‘s sponsorship of the program, which awarded twelve grants of up to $2,000 this year for teachers to use for various programs and tools.

This year, teaching grants were awarded to teachers nationwide, including those in Los Angeles, Castaic and the South Bay of Los Angeles. In addition to local schools, John D Jenkins Elementary School in Virginia and Carbon Vally Academy in Colorado were awarded grants.

Decreasing budgets impacts student learning and leaves little to no funding for innovative programs that will create a passion for students to learn. The grants will fund the programs below that span various educational pursuits.
