Hundreds of families picked up backpacks and school supplies at Kinecta’s 12th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Drive. Kinecta employees and members donated nearly 850 backpacks – loaded with everything school-aged children need to start the school year successfully – with additional support from the Skechers Foundation, Adidas, and LA Galaxy forward Cameron Dunbar.

The contactless drive-through event was held in the parking lot at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson on Aug. 7 for the second year in a row. In attendance were Congresswomen Maxine Waters and Nanette Diaz Barragán. “I’m here every year because Kinecta is providing a wonderful service for all of our communities,” Waters said.

Community partners also included the Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center, Environmental Charter, Community’s Child, Parents of Watts, Richstone Family Center, GRYD Foundation, Thomas House Family Shelter, Los Angeles Police Department Southeast Division, St. Albert the Great School, and the Watts/Century Latino Organization.
